CB&I and CTCI win $2.8 billion ethylene plant order in Oman

CB&I announced on Monday that a joint venture between CB&I and CTCI Corp. (Taipei) has received a notice of intention of award valued at approximately $2.8 billion from Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries Co. (Orpic; Muscat) to provide engineering, procurement and construction for cracker package 1, which includes the steam cracker and associated utilities for the Liwa plastics industrial complex at Sohar, Oman. CB&I is also providing its ethylene technology under an earlier award.
The scope of work includes engineering, procurement and construction for a grassroots 880,000-m.t./year ethylene plant, pygas unit and methyl tert-butyl ether plant, as well as all the related offsites and utilities.
