TALOS MAKES COMMERCIAL DISCOVERY AT SUNSPEAR IN THE US GULF OF MEXICO
After drilling the Sunspear development well, Talos made a significant discovery of oil and natural gas in July 2023. Based on the company’s initial analysis after drilling, the true gross pay zone vertical thickness is approximately 260 feet, with a net pay zone of 177 feet on two targets. The primary target yielded 149 feet of net oil pay, aligning with the expectations set before drilling.
According to the US firm, the production from this project will be directed to the recently acquired Prince platform from EnVen, and the first oil is expected to be extracted within the next 18 to 24 months.
The partners involved in this discovery are Talos (operator, 48%), Ridgewood Energy Corporation (47.5%), and Houston Energy (4.5%).
