Dubai — Libya could lose up to 850,000 b/d of its crude oil production -- nearly90% of total output -- if the blockade of its eastern oil export terminals isnot lifted, state-owned National Oil Corp. warned Sunday. Register Now The self-styled Libyan National Army (LNA) has been in control of themain eastern oil ports since June 22, and handed over operations to a rivaloil company, known as NOC East. It has prevented any ships from loading crude. NOC issued a lengthy statement Sunday, outlining the threat to Libyan oiloutput but did not give a figure for current production. "Total daily production losses resulting from the blockade at Es Sider,Ras Lanuf, Hariga and Zuetina are estimated at 850,000 b/d of crude; 710MMcf/d of natural gas (used to generate electricity and provide fieldoperations with electrical power and gas lift); and more than 20,000 b/dof condensate," NOC said. OPEC member Libya was producing 950,000 b/d in May before the latestclashes in eastern Libya began to disrupt output, according to S&P GlobalPlatts estimates. NOC reiterated its call for the LNA to end the blockade. So far, it hasnot issued a force majeure declaration on the Marsa el-Hariga and Zueitinaports. However, it has already declared force majeure at the key Ras Lanuf andEs Sider oil terminals. Ras Lanuf has been exporting at around 130,000 b/d,which is almost half its 220,000 b/d capacity. The larger Es Sider terminalnormally ships around 260,000 b/d, around 50,000 b/d shy of full exportcapacity. NOC set out a host of consequences if it has to declare force majeure.
