The BM-S-8 license is located in Brazil's Santos Basin and includes the Guanxuma prospect, where the first exploration well is currently being drilled, Galp said. The acquisition is dependent on Equinor closing a separate deal to buy a 10% stake in the license from Brazilian oil company Barra Energia, Galp said. Petrogal Brasil, Equinor and Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) previously announced a series of deals to restructure their holdings in the BM-S-8 and Carcara North licenses.
