Cheniere ramps up feedgas flows to Corpus Christi LNG export terminal Feedgas flows to Cheniere Energy's LNG export terminal in Corpus Christi, Texas, reached their highest level to date on Monday as the company prepares to produce, load and ship its first cargo from the facility. Deliveries to the terminal totaled almost 121 MMcf/d, approximately double the almost 62 MMcf/d of feedgas that flowed there on Sunday, S&P Global Platts Analytics data showed. The latest figure is the highest since flows ramped up in earnest in September, the data showed. Cheniere spokesman Eben Burnham-Snyder declined to comment on whether the company has started producing LNG at Corpus Christi. CEO Jack Fusco said October 22 that he expected the first cargo at Corpus Christi to be exported by the end of the year. He was not more specific than that. The CEO of the Port of Corpus Christi Authority, Sean Strawbridge, said October 30 in an email that Cheniere was planning to host a facility commissioning event on November 15 at the Corpus Christi site. He said he expected the first cargo to ship soon after that. The US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has already approved Cheniere's request to export by tankers the volumes of produced LNG related to commissioning activities at the facility. FERC also has granted Corpus Christi authorization to begin commissioning of Storage Tank A and the West Jetty. Typically, at startup of LNG export facilities, commissioning cargoes are shipped before the facility enters commercial service. Cheniere became the first US exporter of LNG produced from shale gas in February 2016 when its Sabine Pass terminal in Louisiana shipped its initial cargo. Dominion Energy began exporting LNG in March from its Cove Point terminal in Maryland. Currently, Cheniere has four liquefaction trains in operation at Sabine Pass. Train 5 is expected to begin production by the end of the year. Fusco told S&P Global Platts that Cheniere hopes to make a final investment decision by early 2019 about whether to build a sixth train at Sabine Pass. At Corpus Christi, three trains are under construction. Train 1 is expected to produce the first commissioning cargo soon.
