Japan in August 2019 increased imports of Russian oil, coal and LNG
Tokyo, Neftegaz.RU. Japan in August 2019 increased the import of oil , coal and liquefied natural gas ( LNG ) from Russia.
In August 2019, oil imports from Russia in physical terms increased by 19.5% compared to August 2018, to 6.277 million barrels. Coal supplies from Russia to Japan increased by 6%, to 1.999 million tons. LNG purchases increased by 11.2% and amounted to 583 thousand tons. In general, Japan reduced oil imports last month by 11% year on year, to 89.82 million tons. LNG imports decreased by 19.4%, to 6.1 million tons.
Coal imports decreased by 11.9%, to 15.61 million tons. Russian energy supplies to Japan were actively discussed at the Eastern Economic Forum (WEF-2019), which was held in early September 2019.
Russian Energy Minister A. Novak said that in 2018, supplies of oil and oil products, liquefied gas and coal continued to be at a high level. In the 1st quarter of 2019, coal supplies increased by 18% to 4.78 million tons.
