The UK in the 1st half of 2019 increased LNG purchases from Russia by 5 times London, Neftegaz.RU. For 6 months of 2019, the UK significantly reduced pipeline gas imports and increased imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG). The largest increase in LNG imports from Russia. Pipeline gas imports have plummeted due to planned repairs. Deliveries from Belgium fell by 90%, from the Netherlands - by 38%, and from Norway - by 18%. As a result, deliveries through gas pipelines fell compared with the 1st half of 2018 from 25.9 billion m 3 to 18.5 billion m 3. Losses offset the increase in LNG supplies. Qatar remains the main LNG supplier to the UK with a 59% share of the total LNG supply. In the 1st half of 2019, Qatar exported 5.9 billion m 3 of LNG to the UK, which is almost 4 times more than in the 1st half of 2018. At the same time, Russia was ahead of all in terms of growth in supplies. LNG imports from the Yamal LNG project increased 5-fold to 1.8 billion m 3. US LNG imports were more modest. The total volume of deliveries of American LNG did not exceed 700 million m 3 with a 4-fold increase. As a result, total LNG imports to the UK in the 1st half of 2019 increased by 3.6 times and exceeded the 10 billion m 3 mark. As for all gas supplies, compared with 2018, the indicators have not changed - 28.6 billion m 3. The increase in LNG exports to the UK did not bring significant profit to suppliers. They were forced to sell gas cheaply, since spot prices in Northwest Europe are quite low. Today, gas supplies from abroad cover more than 50% of consumption in the UK, which amounted to 39 billion m 3 in the 1st half of the year. Yamal LNG reached full capacity (16.5 million tons / year) in December 2018 since the start of August 2019 Yamal LNG has shipped 20 million tons of LNG. Over 1st half of 2019 with the Yamal LNG was shipped 9 million tons of LNG. |
