OPEC Agrees to Deeper Cuts Ahead of Aramco IPO The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries agreed Thursday to slash its crude supplies by an extra 40% next year, cartel officials said, as Saudi Arabia pushes for higher oil prices ahead of a giant company IPO. But prices moved only modestly on the news as experts doubted the headline reduction will bring real reductions in production. Meeting in Vienna Thursday, OPEC decided to deepen collective production curbs by 500,000 barrels a day along with its allies until the end of March, delegates said. Non-OPEC allies led by Russia, which will share the burden of the cuts, still need to formally endorse the proposal Friday. But Moscow already signaled it would back the deal in a closed committee earlier Thursday.
