三菱化学准备在美国路州新建全球最大MMA厂

    中国石化新闻网讯 据石化新闻2020年12月9日新加坡报道，日本三菱化学控股公司在12月9日的一份声明中称，该公司已经在美国路易斯安那州的盖斯马尔购买了土地，准备在那里新建一个年产35万吨的甲基丙烯酸甲酯（MMA）厂。

    三菱化学表示，新MMA厂将在2025年开始商业运营。

    这个新建MMA厂届时将是全球最大的MMA厂，超过了三菱化学与沙特阿拉伯萨比克合资的25万吨/年的MMA厂。

    新MMA厂将采用三菱化学集团开发的新型乙烯工艺。

    由于可以很容易地获得乙烯原料以及利用密西西比流域灵活的物流，所以三菱化学把新MMA厂厂址选择在路易斯安那州。

    MMA是一种主要用于生产丙烯酸塑料的单体。

    Japan's Mitsubishi Chem buys land in the US for new MMA plant

    Japan's Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings has purchased land in Geismar, Louisiana, to build a new 350,000 mt/year methyl methacrylate plant, the company said in a statement Dec. 9.

    The new plant is due to start commercial operations in 2025, it said.

    It is the largest MMA plant globally, exceeding the 250,000 mt/year plant owned by a joint venture between the company and Saudi Arabia's SABIC.

    The new plant will adopt new ethylene processes, which was developed by the Mitsubishi Chemical group.

    The company chose Louisiana as it can easily access ethylene feedstock as well as flexible logistics using the Mississippi River.

    MMA is a monomer used mostly for the production of acrylic plastics.
