Throughout weak pre-Christmas trading, global benchmark Brent crude traded at USD51.37 per barrel at 0648 GMT for a 0.25 percent upsurge after closing on Thursday, December 24 at USD51.24 a barrel. American benchmark West Texas Intermediate (WTI) was at USD48.30 per barrel at the same time for a 0.37 percent upsurge after ending the past session at USD48.12 a barrel.
